I’m working on a couple of scripts for the blogshares game at the moment and of course the continuing development of WP MP3 Player. I’ve also been messing about with this site for a change and have upgraded my WP version. Installed some neat plugins and altered the theme. Hope you like it.
I’m going to do as many of my script pages as I can over the next few days as I feel like I’ve neglected them with the WordPress move. Just throwing up a list of files isn’t really good enough, so my screenshot taking, page writing, .zip FTPing self will need to get a move on.
Cheers
Billy
I’ve released version 3.0.5 of WP MP3 Player today which contains the following bugfixes…
1. changed text of the “about” dialog.
2. changed text in updater in regards to newer version being installed than published.
3. fixed “/did invalid command” on others ctcp sound if player is not open.
4. added version information in ctcp status reply
5. fixed edit box in onAirNow setup dialog not handling long paths
Someone asked me the other day why it’s called WP. Well it stands for WavPlayers which is the abbreviated version of #IRCWavPlayers. The channel that got me in to all of this in the first place. Check out their blog and come and chat with us!

…small update to yesterdays published WP MP3 Player. I accidentally put in a bug with the modified updater. It was opening even in the event you had the most recent version installed. This is fixed now, version 3.0.4. Sorry folks!

…but at last I’ve gotten round to publishing the update of WP MP3 Player to v3.0.3. I’ve also updated the updater in it so hopefully all those who have had an older version for some time will get notified of this one, although the format might be a bit scrambled. Anyhoooooo, here are the main changes…
1. fixed bug where wma files could only play in random (and not by clicking play)
2. added memory of previous state for ‘Use OnAirNow Plugin’ menu item
3. added memory of previous state for ‘Show in MSN Messenger’ menu item
4. replaced all instances of “$mircdir” to “$nofile($mircexe)” for mIRC 6.3 (for vista compatibility $mircdir returns the mirc installation/settings folder which changed in mIRC 6.3 to %appdata%) This change will not affect older mIRCs.
5. added horizontal scrollbars to the list boxes when data exceeds box width.
6. changed zipping of list to happen minimized, this makes it faster and non-intrusive.
7. removed installer executable.
8. wpplayer.zip is now automatically created from my own machine when invoked for increased security.
9. updated 7zip as it wasn’t the standalone (7za.exe in original download) version.
10. updated WP MP3 Player UPDATER to include list box with current updates. Also changed to updates file on the server.
I think update 9 in that list is very important, I don’t know how long the wrong executable was being used but I suspect it was from the very first time! That meant that unless you had 7zip already installed on your computer then the zipping/unzipping of lists in the player was redundant. This had a knock-on effect of not cleaning up old lists when creating new ones, opening the new list from the @listmaking -in-progress window and sending with @nick or ctcp list commands.
As always get in touch by leaving a comment here or in email if you find any bugs. I often miss things(like the zip problem, only noticed when I uninstalled my 7zip for testing) here as I only use one machine for editing and testing. (although I do run my regular mirc and another “clean” mirc for testing)

The new mIRC is out with over 50 bug-fix/improvements. It’s also had a major facelift with almost all the icons updated to a newer, sleeker design. The mIRC website has a new look too in conjunction with this release.
The scripts editor window has changed a little, for the better, with line numbers!!! line numbers!!! about time too!
Go get it.

Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about there being a new mIRC. I’m still carrying out testing for compatability in WP MP3 Player. So far I’ve altered how it looks for things(mIRC6.3 returns the %appdata% folder as $mircdir in some cases so I’ve altered all the $mircdir occurences to $nofile($mircexe) which will return the folder in which mIRC is actually installed. This is backward compatible with older mIRCs too. Also got the player to save the status of the OnAirNow and MSN bits.
The eagle eyed amongst you will have long ago noticed the player no longer updates you automatically. This isn’t entirely true, the player will still notify you of updates when it connects, but only if I’ve updated this site, which I haven’t done in so long. Anyhow, watch this space for a new release soon (v.3.0.3)
Now the new mIRC itself…
It’s brilliant as usual. There’s a new option to have it in “Compact”mode(View/Mode/Compact) which gives it the appearance of an IM program, your contacts can be kept in the treebar now as well. Another good thing is that it now connects to mirc.com(or somewhere) to verify your license is legit. I can’t believe Khaled has taken this long to implement this. I had been using a keygen on older mIRCs but I just paid the license when I saw it this time. I mean, I have no excuse really. I love the program and I use it all the time. If you like it, pay for it too, it’s only a tenner at todays exchange rates, gotta love our economy some times!
I’m also learning DCX and will be entirely switching(or perhaps replacing) the mp3 player to use dcx.dll stuff. It just looks so much better. I’ll also be scripting the Blogshares script with it I think, for the same reasons.
I’ve not really got that much computer time at the moment so things are taking longer than usual. If you’re desperate for something, GET IN TOUCH! I’ll put it ahead of the queue.
Also this site may suffer some downtime at the end of the month, Aaron, my host, is talking about moving accounts to another server so that’ll no doubt be a pain!
Cheers.

I’ve done a quiz script based on Rantz’s 2,300 chippies contests. Although he doesn’t run these any more I designed a script using the same format for anyone who wants to have a blogshares contest in IRC. You make a file before the quiz with all the questions and answers. Then you run it in IRC at quiz time. The script checks to see if it finds matches in the answers given. If it does it fills a box with the first matching response. You manually check that it didn’t miss anything, correcting it if it did, then it saves the results. At the end of the quiz it opens up a file showing all the correct answerers. I’ve also included a small sample file of the question format.

Here’s a sneak preview of how it’s coming along. I’ve not had much time to work on it with one thing or another, but here’s the draft so far…

I only have the “General” and “Messages” tabs working at the moment, but what do y’all think? What needs changing and what would a B$ member want included?

Well I’ve had loads of server problems, this site is now back up and running though. A quick run down of what’s coming in the (hopefully near) future.
I’ve just finished a plugin for WP MP3 Player which integrates with the OnAirNow plugin for wordpress. It’s basically a file information grabber and ftp module to allow a “now playing” thing for wordpress and mIRC. (see it in action on my blog)
I’m currently theming a mIRC for Blog$hares players. I’ve designed the layout and have just started on a dialog system for getting your player information from the site. I’ve become a bit of a blogshares addict recently so I might even change to the themed mIRC myself when it’s finished.

All the scripts are now uploaded, however no links are in place yet. I managed to grab a few minutes on the other PC and get the FTP running, before my girlfriend hauled me off to be sociable. I’ll get the links up ASAP y’all, please bear with me!
Until then use this link for the indexing. (removed due to me getting my act together!)
